  1. I doubt this would infringe on the rights of the Texture Pack creators. The mod would not actually come with any texture packs bundled, but it would understand a giant texture pack (created by the end-user) and then apply those to the new blocks. Spout can already do this, kind of.
  2. Ok, this was an idea I came up with during a discussion with some far more knowledgeable friends in our Teamspeak server. I've never modded for Minecraft, never owned or operated a server. I don't know any Java. However, I do have an idea that I'd like to throw out to any adventurous developer (or team--one of the people I was discussing this with suggested this could require a lot of code). Here's the core function of the mod (as explained to me by someone else who is actually familiar with Java): The mod would allow the most useful blocks for building from multiple texture packs to coexist within the same server by using damage values the same way wool does. This would make expand the scope of Creative Mode by giving players more block choices and more diversity. Server owners would be able to ensure that a building designed around a specific aesthetic would be seen the same way by every player. It would also eliminate the need for servers with multiple themed maps require clients to download and switch to multiple texture packs just so that everything looks correct. I'm not sure if this mod exists, but no one I've talked to about it seems to think it does. If it does, please, do point me in the right direction. If it doesn't, feel free to take this idea and run. Like I said, I have none of the skills required to implement this on my own. If you want to code it, I'll thank you, and then gladly use your mod .
