    If I use the stand-alone FML from here, the bug doesn't happen. This isn't particularly newsworthy (it doesn't change nearly as much as the full Forge package), but I tested it for completeness's sake. It just means that the bug is definitely in the main Forge code, rather than elsewhere.

    More testing: using just the Forge ModLoader, this problem goes away. The problem also doesn't occur when playing on servers.

    I'm also having this problem when using any 1.4.4-compatible version of Forge. Edit: This bug also exists in the 1.4.5 preview using build 381 of Forge.
