Hi!

I am making a mod where you need an axe to chop down a tree. Don't worry I have figured it out how the player gets an axe.

 

I was wondering how to make it so that you can't harvest logs with bare hands. Can Forge hook somehow into the hand or tree breaking methods or do I have to override the log blocks with my own (which I think causes problems with the tree generation)?

Thanks I'll try if I can make it work. But could you somehow make it work like breaking stone blocks with hand? Eventually it breaks but you won't get any blocks from it. I would rather make it work like that since the only block in minecraft which is unbreakable by hand is bedrock. But if it is not possible then I'm satisfied with the other way.
