Mod is causing player game crash with no error message/crash report when you put certain items in inventory

So, we can load up the server and play it as long as we'd like but we've had this issue 3 times already. Twice was with maps. One friend created a map and as soon as it went in his inventory it crashed only his game and gave no error message and the only fix was to delete his player data. Second time another friends game crashed randomly & the last thing he remembers picking up was an enchanted sword. It happened again tonight when the same friend picked up a treasure map. Its not crashing the server for everybody so I can't find a crash report to verify which mod is doing it. Is their any other way to know what's going on without manually uninstalling each mod one by one and testing it? We're all new to mods lol. We host through apex minecraft hosting if that makes a difference.
