On the left you can see the game versions, click on 1.16, then 1.16.5 and you will see 2 panels. The one on the right is the latest recommended version, click on download installer, open it (after it's downloaded) and then just hit ok on the installer.
After that, you will find the game version in the game launcher, you have to change it to the one you just installed.

I have update forge to version 1.16.5 - 36.2.20 ; still getting the same problem (or perhaps its a new but simular problem?)

I have also tried launching forge through the normal launcher, and it starts fine.

Could you please elaborate? I believe this is the newest version for a 1.16.5 Modpack (excluding the daily release, that is to say latest stable release) ???

Now to mess it all up with shaders!
