I've been trying to install a mod for java minecraft 1.18.2 and i have forged installed but when i open up .minecraft the mod file is no where to be seen

Sorry for the confusion. But to put it in more detail

I wanted to try a mod for java version for Minecraft 1.18.2 exactly and so I went to download forge I downloaded the newest version and installed it and was told from the tutorial that there should be a mod file .Minecraft folder

So i opened the Folder for .Minecraft up and only saw the original folders that come with Minecraft and the tutorial i was following stated "After you are done installing forge open up .Minecraft from your folders and find the Mod folder from forge

And as i downloaded forge and checked the folder i couldn't find the Mod folder

Im not sure if they had used another application but im not sure cause i am a newbie to forge and dont know how to use it and what to expect

And sorry for the confusion

You must run minecraft forge for it to automatically generate the "mods" folder. otherwise, you can create the folder yourself and name it "mods" and put mod files into that subfolder.
