im trying to test a server for me and my friends to play on but i cannot join it, when i try it just gives me this error

Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: readerIndex(35933) + length(1) exceeds writer Index(35933): UnpooledHeapByteBufcridx: 35933, widx: 35933, cap: 35933/35933)

I have no clue what this means and looking at the logs it doesnt show me anything relating to it.
