What OTHER folders can I put mods in?

Hello everyone, I know that it used to be possible to put mods except the /mods folder in the /mods/mc-version folder, where mc-version is the version of the game, for example 1.7.10. I need this in order to separate the libraries and cores from the mods themselves. I use the ForgeOptifine function in tlauncher on version 1.16.5. I create a folder 1.16.5, but it doesn't work that way, minecraft doesn't see these mods.
