Says "failed to download file" in minecraft launcher

I have java downloaded and the forge Minecraft version i want to be downloaded which is 1.12.2 - 14.23.5.2860, I tried to open Minecraft with the forge version but it says, "Failed to download file. Error details: Couldn't select a valid version of the Java runtime to download." Can someone help me?

Does this error happen in the launcher or when trying to install Forge? If the former, check to make sure the java directory the profile is pointing towards is either the one shipped with vanilla or a Java 8 jdk you have. If the latter, make sure you have the Java 8 jdk on the path environment variable.

Failed loading villager cartographer registered at cartographer - frozen tick

Allocated 10 Gb of ram. Could try again with more but I read using too much can slow things down as well. Going to try another big modpack and see if i can replicate the problem. It seems like this cartographer problem is kind of popular and doesn't have a solid solution yet, but i suspect its some generation mod since it's a crash that happens when specific chunks are being loaded. so i'll still try to lookout for what mod it could be as i add. i'll report back after testing as you suggested for a bit

I have no idea - is enough RAM allocated?
Do other pre-configured modpacks work? Maybe use such a modpack as working base and add new mods one by one

The settings.gradle file has been fixed. But, the build.gradle has an error now.
