I come across the following error when trying to runClient. I have searched around for a while, yet cannot find a solution. I have reinstalled java, jdk and forge as well as clearing the cache etc. Not sure where the problem lies, any help would be very much appreciated.

It seems like your buildscript setup is incorrect. It's trying to find the built classes and resources in the parent directory of your environment. My opinion is to rerun the runs generator and then executing the client config from there.
