Posted March 25, 201411 yr I'm trying to update a mod to 1.7.2, and sounds.json is giving me some grief.
{ “Ambient_Hit”: {"category": "master","sounds": [{"name": “Ambient_Hit”,”stream": false}]} } The mod is named Gemflow, so the file is located at assets/gemflow/sounds/Ambient_Hit.ogg, but on startup the console says:
Starting up SoundSystem... Initializing LWJGL OpenAL (The LWJGL binding of OpenAL. For more information, see http://www.lwjgl.org) OpenAL initialized. [16:16:57] [Client thread/WARN]: File gemflow:sounds/???Ambient_Hit???.ogg does not exist, cannot add it to event gemflow:???Ambient_Hit??? [16:16:57] [Client thread/WARN]: File gemflow:sounds/???Ambient_Hit???.ogg does not exist, cannot add it to event gemflow:???Ambient_Hit??? [16:16:57] [sound Library Loader/INFO]: Sound engine started Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? Any more information that I sound provide?
March 27, 201411 yr The default is for streaming to be false, so you shouldn't need to add all that extra information. { “Ambient_Hit”: {"category": "master","sounds": [“Ambient_Hit”]} } Try that. Also, if you didn't know the category designates which volume control in the options menu controls this sound's volume. Check out the menu to see which category may best suit your sound. http://i.imgur.com/NdrFdld.png[/img]
March 27, 201411 yr Author Thanks for the idea, but I get the same error with the format that you suggested. My sounds.json file is located at assets/gemflow as well, so that isn't the problem either. Any other suggestions?
March 27, 201411 yr Not sure if it makes any difference, but all of my sound files and corresponding names in the json file are entirely lower case. If that doesn't work for you, double-check that both your json and sound file are really the format that you think they are, and not just renamed to have that extension. http://i.imgur.com/NdrFdld.png[/img]
March 27, 201411 yr File gemflow:sounds/???Ambient_Hit???.ogg What code are you using to trigger this ? It should be something like: playSound("gemflow:Ambient_Hit"...)
March 28, 201411 yr Author Actually, I wasn't triggering the sound at all yet- but I figured out the problem those triple question marks in the error are representing an unknown symbol; checking my sounds.json again reveals that the quotes around Ambient_Hit were either in italics or a different font. Changing theses to normal quotes has allowed the sound to load. As for playing the sound, is it just a simple matter of: world.playSoundAtEntity(player, "gemflow:Ambient_Hit", 1.0F, 1.0F);
