Hello,

I saw an tutorial about forge (http://www.minecraftforge.net/wiki/Netty_Packet_Handling) that uses the Netty framework (http://netty.io/index.html) and so I need help with the installation of the framework, because I have searched in google and looked on the website from Netty framework/project and everything that I found didn't worked, has not enough informations or i didn't understand it.

So I hope that you can help me!

You don't need the netty framework, as all you need is the netty library and that's provider by forge when installing forge.

Don't PM me with questions. They will be ignored! Make a thread on the appropriate board for support.

1.7.10 and older versions of Minecraft are no longer supported due to it's age! Update to the latest version for support.

Ok, so I get the netty library by installing forge, right? If so, then why are then the classes are missing?

Netty is already built in.  So all you have to do is register a channel for your mod,  create a class for the packet creation and create a "handler" class to process the received packets.  The packets have a payload that isbadically a ByteBuf that allows you to create a stream of information.  It is up to you what information you put in, but typical example would be custom fields for an entity.

What part of the tutorial are you having trouble with?

I think the main confusion is that there are several ways to do it so the tutorials aren't all the same.

Ok, my problem is that eclipse can't find the classes from io.netty. It says only create class/interface....

And how do I riegister a channel for my mod?

Developer of Primeval Forest.

In that tutorial it is done in the initialise() method in the PacketPipeline class.

I think your issue is that you can't see the io.netty from your dev environment.  I'm not sure how to fix that but otherwise just follow the tutorial.

Ok, thanks. I will post here back, if I get more problems with it and it would be nice if anyone can find out how to fix it that eclipse can't find the classes from io.netty

Oh and one quick question. I'm creating this mod for Minecraft 1.7 and 1.6, so exists the io.netty packages in 1.6 too or how must I handle it there?
