So, I went to install OreSpawn today, and after trying to figure out why OreSpawn was breaking my game, I realized I had the incorrect version of Forge.

So, I came here, downloaded the latest 1.6.4 version, and tried to install it in a new directory.

It gave me the message, "The directory does not have a launcher profile. Use the vanilla MC launcher first", so I created a new profile for my new directory and ran it.

I exited the game, and tried to install Forge again.

It said the same thing; "The directory does not have a launcher profile".

 

I'm using the legitimate Minecraft launcher, a legitimate account, I've made two profiles to open my directory, and still, nothing.

What am I doing wrong? How do I fix this?

You always point the installer to .minecraft. Then later you can change the GameDir in the launcher profile options.
