I recently downloaded and installed the recommended src version of forge, but when I attempted to view the Block.class file or any file in the forgeBin library, I was greeted with a page that said "Source Not Found". When I went further and checked the project properties, it listed the entire forgeBin library as lacking a source. Is there any way to fix this? (Note that this happens in 1.7.2 forge as well).

You need to run setupDecompWorkspace to get the source. setupDevWorkspace will only give you the binary.

It's a stumbling block for every new modder (and I tripped over it at least twice before I caught on): There are instructions and tutorials telling us to use setupDevWorkspace when it is much more useful to do setupDecompWorkspace. Is there EVER a reason to do just Dev? The only one I can think of is if one wants to compile on a different machine from where one does editing. Of course, that has me wondering why again...

The debugger is a powerful and necessary tool in any IDE, so learn how to use it. You'll be able to tell us more and get better help here if you investigate your runtime problems in the debugger before posting.
