Hey! Thanks for stopping by!

As you can tell from the title, I am in need of assistance. I am new to the modding world and am wanting to know what the line of code is to add a tooltip to an item/block. To make it easier if you would, can you just copy and paste it and I can edit it to my likings? And also I also would like to know if there is a way to make it to where we can do this. I would like to know but if no one knows, that is ok.

You know how in Thermal Expansion, if you hover over the steam dynamo or any kind of dynamo and it says "Hold shift for details?" I would like that.

Any help is greatly appreciated! :D:) Thanks!

To add a tooltip to your own item classes, you can override the addInformation method and add Strings to the List given.

To dynamically add tooltips to vanilla items, you need to use the Forge ItemTooltipEvent (see how to use Forge Events).

You could probably use the RenderBlockOverlayEvent to render your in-game display above certain blocks, though I have never personally used it so I don't know what it does exactly beyond what it's documentation says.
