Hello,

I got a question about my crop, I wanted to have 8 stages of a crop but it won't load 8 stages, its only going to the 4th stage.

It is 'Ready' when its on the 4th stage (You can collect bell pepper's on the 4th stage)

but i want it to collect my bell pepper when its on the 8 stage, Any help Sould be appreciated

I've tryed to figure out i but can't get it to work.

I Dont know really wat says how many stages my crop had.

Heres the code of my crop: http://pastebin.com/ddshMTqP

There's some function you need to override instead of getItemDropped. It's called getDrops or something like that. It should be metadata sensitive.

Does this fix for going to stage 8?

Cause my mod loads stage 1, 2, 3, 4 four it is the 'final stage' what my mod says, but i wanted to have 8 at my final stage.

I have a tutorial for custom crops.

The growth stage is controlled by the block metadata.  There are some functions with names like func_149853_b() that actually increment the growth stage.

For displaying the growth stage it uses the getIcon() method.  Of course you need to registerIcons() previously.  I prefer to put my icons in an array and then index them based on the metadata value.

Anyway, look at my tutorial and see if that helps.  It explains a bunch of this stuff.

The method is fine. It's just to decide which of the 4 textures to use. However, you should use meta <= 7 instead of meta < 7

Yes, but that is already decided as the metadata index.  That is why you use an array-- you register an icon for each growth stage.

No reason to use bit shifting to figure it out.  If you've extended the metadata so that other bits are used, then maybe you'd want to mask the metadata first.  Other than that, metadata gives the icon directly.

General rule of thumb is that the simpler code is, the less chance for bugs.
