[1.8] changing the player model

hey I asked it here for 1.7 and it worked but now i tried to make it work for 1.8 what i wanted to do is just add something to the player model with a option to turn it on and off but the problem is i have no idea how to do this so if anyone has some guidelines for me i would like to see them.

  hi. Im new to modding Minecraft so i apologise in advance. Ive just downloaded the Forge Installer so i can use the Custom NPCs mod. How do i run the download? ive opened the JAR file and its a bunch of coding i dont understand. Can someone please talk me though it or point out where in going wrong? thanks
