[1.8] .json file errors

whenever I try to launch minecraft I get this error: Encountered an exception when loading model definition of 'murpmod:TestBlock#normal' from: 'murpmod:blockstates/TestBlock.json' in resourcepack: 'FMLFileResourcePack:Murp Mod'

 

I think it means it is reading my json file but there is a problem with it :(  I used other people's files and vanilla for reference, so I don't know what could be wrong(I get this other times for other json files) the block's texture does not show up.
