I their a way to make a custom fire not dying when hit by flowing water?

I created a fireblock which extends Block, copy the methods from BlockFire and set the Material to gourd. That worked, but the rendering was different.

Seems to me you'd be better off extending BlockFire directly?

What do you mean the rendering is 'different'?

If anyone has a comprehensive, visual guide to GUIs - don't hesitate to message me. They make my head spin.

BlockFire has rendertype 3.

If I made my fire having rendertype 3 too without extending Blockfire, mc throws an classcastexception.

case 3: return this.renderBlockFire((BlockFire)p_147805_1_, p_147805_2_, p_147805_3_, p_147805_4_) ;

I could make renderBlockModFire() for my own fire, but I don't know how to register this
