Hello. I need help from this problem I encountered while adding new recipes. I encountered the exception:

java.lang.ClassCastException

I've been trying to find a solution to this but no, haven't found one yet, so I got to this forums. I need help please because I want to continue learning how to mod in MC1.8

And the fml-client-latest.log

Using Java8 rather than Java7, is that the problem? I don't want to download the big sdk file again.  :( :( :(

P.S. I'm not a programming noob, i tackled C++ and Java.

Use Gist/Pastebin to post logs and individual classes or GitHub/BitBucket to host entire projects.

This is line 243 of

CraftingManager

:

Character character = (Character)recipeComponents[i];

You passed an instance of

BasicItem

where a

Character

/

char

was expected.

GameRegistry.addRecipe

expects up to three strings describing the recipe's shape, then a character and

Item

,

Block

or

ItemStack

for each ingredient (in that order).

To see how vanilla adds its shaped recipes, look for usages of

CraftingManager#addRecipe

(which is indirectly called by

GameRegistry.addRecipe

).

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

Oh yeah, sorry about that. I have a Github account but barely uses it, same to pastebin. My mistake.

Moving on...

Well I found the problem (I hope it is) while scanning the CraftingManager.class.

Double quotation marks matter from single quotation marks. I haven't started the game yet but I got my hopes up. Thanks for helping.

Do I need to lock this thread, or someone would do it for me?
