NovaViper Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Are there still any updated modeling software for creating entities? Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
NovaViper Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 And I may have asked this already (Sorry if this counts as spamming <_>), but I really need to know and plus.. I really have forgotten what modeling software is out there now (I literally went half the year without programming a single thing in Minecraft.. been really busy in high school) Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
ratismal Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I don't have much experience with modelling entities, but as for modelling software, Blender is a pretty decent free modelling program. I know you can make OBJ files from it, not sure what else or if that's applicable for entities. Quote Did I help you? Don't be afraid to give that 'thank you' button a good smack for me! It's been looking at me weirdly for a while now.
NovaViper Posted February 12, 2016 Author Posted February 12, 2016 I do remember trying blender, but I couldn't figure out how to export the models as a java file.. nor could i figure out how to move in the editor Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
ratismal Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I couldn't figure out how to export the models as a java file. With Blender, you would export the model as a OBJ file, and then import it into your game. As for moving around, I can only suggesting looking up some Blender tutorials. However, after doing more research, an OBJ is more for advanced modelling. If you're making a more of a blocky entity, this may be of some interest to you (rendering manually). That tutorial was made for 1.7.10, but it still should be mostly applicable for 1.8.9. Quote Did I help you? Don't be afraid to give that 'thank you' button a good smack for me! NovaViper Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 Oh? I thought that software died off. I'll try that also.. oh.. I'm having a bit of trouble using Blender, not sure how I can move around the editor Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
NovaViper Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 And does Tabula work with 1.8.9? Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!

NovaViper Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 Hey guys, what about this program called SketchUp? I used this before to make a a dog to be 3D printed. NovaViper Posted February 13, 2016 Author Posted February 13, 2016 And another question, when using MagicaVoxel and Sketch, they can export files as .obj files. Are those file types supported yet? Also.. how would I texture the models? Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
coolAlias Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Tabula is a mod, not a standalone piece of software - you run it from within Minecraft. There is a button on the main menu. Quote http://i.imgur.com/NdrFdld.png[/img]
NovaViper Posted February 14, 2016 Author Posted February 14, 2016 I put in my mods folder but it never initalizes or runs Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
coolAlias Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 I put in my mods folder but it never initalizes or runs Are you sure you got the correct version? I haven't checked, but it might not even be compatible with 1.8.9 yet. You can still model in it using 1.8.0 - the models export as .java files just fine, which you can then use in your project just like the vanilla entity model classes. NovaViper Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Yeah, I tried 1.8.9 and 1.8 Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
NovaViper Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 Read Ichun's tutorials, it takes his core mod as well to run tabula I've looked and still haven't found a tutorial or solution to run it Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
ZeroNoRyouki Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Just use MultiMC or similar launcher to create a clean 1.8 instance, add the last raccomanded version of forge, put Tabula and iChunLib 5.x in the mod folder and enjoy Quote
NovaViper Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 I do have a clean instance of 1.8.. but the game never even loads it up. Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
ZeroNoRyouki Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 And what does the error log say? Quote
NovaViper Posted February 28, 2016 Author Posted February 28, 2016 There wasn't an error and I finally got the game to read the mods Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
TrashCaster Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Just use Techne. I still use it. It doesn't work flawlessly with the code export (some things get named wrong), but if you know what you're doing, then it doesn't matter. Quote
NovaViper Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 I got Tabula to work, I placed both mods in the folder and it finally worked Quote Main Developer and Owner of Zero Quest Visit the Wiki for more information If I helped anyone, please give me a applaud and a thank you!
NovaViper Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 Ok, I've been playing around with Tabula and it has been MUCH EASIER to handle with exporting than techne was. Though I'm trying to figure out on how to mimic the animations I made in the mod since the mod doesn't export animiations (such a shame for that too.. hopefully the modder comes out and do us all modders a favor and implement this). I've been looking at some mods like those Mowie mods and they seem to use their own libary and was acutally made with Tabula.
