I am porting code that, during an FOV event, checks to see if the player is using a mod-specific bow, and if so, adjusts the FOV.

1. Is the 1.9 replacement for player.isUsingItem()  == player.isHandActive(), or something else?

2. Am I correct in thinking the 1.9 replacement for player.getItemInUse() == player.getHeldItemMainhand()? Or should I be using something else?

EntityPlayer#isUsingItem

has been replaced by

EntityLivingBase#isHandActive

, yes.

EntityPlayer#getItemInUse

has been replaced by

EntityLivingBase#getActiveItemStack

.

EntityLivingBase#getHeldItemMainhand

only returns the item in the entity's main hand, regardless of which hand they're using (if any).
