I'm not asking to be able to enchant items in the enchantment table. I'm asking how I could have what the MC Wiki calls "secondary items".

I have an item that I would like to be able to use Efficency and Fortune, but nothing else.

Is there some way to do this?

    Yes, but it's a pain. You must subscribe to the AnvilUpdateEvent (create an events handling class and import net.minecraftforge.event.AnvilUpdateEvent). Your AnvilUpdateEvent handler method will then need to mimic nearly all of the vanilla updateRepairOutput method, doing things your way in whatever key place you want something non-vanilla to happen.

     

    If you're new to events, then you have some reading / tutorial watching ahead of you.

    The debugger is a powerful and necessary tool in any IDE, so learn how to use it. You'll be able to tell us more and get better help here if you investigate your runtime problems in the debugger before posting.
