Problem with Forge install

Hope someone can help. Have my son who is obsessed with Minecraft and wants to have mods. I have tried installing Forge but keep getting an error message at the end of installation that the installation failed to write due to write protection. My son has build 1.6.1.1 Minecraft. I am trying to download the latest recommended Forge installation. I am not too up on PC's but wonder if someone could help overcome this issue.
