Posted December 21, 201212 yr because all the class files are sorted into packages now, you lose a lot of access to protected class members that have no business being protected e.g. Block.createStackedBlock(int metadata). Forge should attempt to make these methods public, as long as they already edit the class file (as in Block.java). EDIT: Fields such as EntityLiving.activePotionsMap should also be made public, not just methods.
