Posted September 10, 20169 yr Sorry I've just about read every changelog and forum help post I can find... I'm trying to understand the differences between the "Installer", "Installer-win", "Src" and "Universal"? I can't help but wonder if one download is better then the other for my server and I just can't find the answer. Thanks a bunch...
September 10, 20169 yr You should be downloading and using Forge, not FML. FML is included in Forge. Installer installs a Forge client or server. Insaller-win is a Windows executable wrapper of the Installer JAR. These are the downloads you want. Src is the old name for the MDK, Mod Development Kit. It's only for developing mods. Universal is just the Forge JAR itself. This doesn't include any of the libraries required by Minecraft/Forge. Note that 1.7.10 is no longer supported here, so you won't get any help with it. Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.
September 10, 20169 yr Author Thanks for the answer... But you raised another question, why isn't 1.7.10 no longer being supported if that's what most modder's have wrapped their mods around? What's going to be the new norm?
September 10, 20169 yr Author You should be using 1.10.2. Thanks a bunch... I'll take that as it's the best it's going to be and roll with it. I'm only 5 months into Minecraft since I bought it and am now just enjoying the massive mods the rest of you have enjoyed for years. This might be to much to ask, but I'm running a Rouguelike Dungeons, Nevermine 2, Divine RPG and Orespawn server. I've already hit the ground running with Minetweaker3 and have balanced the mods so none OP the other based on difficulty obtaining the armor/weapons. If anyone could suggest another mod or 2 that would compliment these, I'd appreciate it GREATLY! Thanks so much!
