Posted February 19, 20178 yr Hi, let's say i wanted to create an items that allows users to write a note to other players. So it would be an item that opens up a GUI (similar to sign) when right-clicking on another player to enter a message, and on confirmation, that note would be placed in the target player's inventory. The way I see it, there are two possible ways to handle this: 1. In the scope of the acting player using the onItemRightClick event and checking if the player aims at another player. 2. In the scope of the target player using the processInitialInteract or processInteract event (like the lead code does, for example). Pro option 1: It is all handled in the acting player's scope (which i feel is the way it should be) Pro option 2: It is automatically handled when a player right clicks another player, no checking for "aiming a player" necessary. Which one would be the most appropriate option? Edited February 19, 20178 yr by Xaser
February 19, 20178 yr I recommend handling it in an override of Item#itemInteractionForEntity, which is called when a player right clicks your item on an entity.
