So....like many others I'm writing my first "real" mod (not just playing around w/ tutorials and code snippets) and I've run into an issue w/ TileEntities I can't seem to resolve:

Have a new block that creates a custom tileentity and updates it onBlockActivate... so far no problem everything works as expected.  Here's the issue... the texture of the block needs to change based on the values in the tileentity and the renderer doesn't apply these changes until one of two things occur:

Close and reload the world

- or -

Another block is changed (added, removed, door opened, etc...)

I'm calling markBlockForRenderUpdate in onBlockActivated and from what I can tell the renderer isn't requesting the new textures for the block.

Perhaps triggering a blockevent? or forcing a display update?

Any pointers would be helpful.....

Also, any advice on the best practice for caching the tileentity data?  I'm calling it in getBlockTexture and know that calling getTileEntity up to 6 times for the same block is BAD. :-)
