Changing current Spigot server to Forge?

So. I made a server a bit ago. A basic spigot 1.11 server. A lot of my friends play on it (20-30), and they've already built a lot of shit and are generally having an amazing time and all my friends, IRL and online, are becoming friends with one another and it's a beautiful thing.

However, I've been wanting to install mods and some people have asked about mods -- most of which need forge, which I don't run. I already have some plugins set up and is very stable; (pex, clearlagg, chatex, savagedeathchest, lockette, pex, essentialsx, dynmap) and most mods I've been interested in require forge or some other server installation.

Is there a way, for me to import my maps from a Spigot installation to a Forge installation?

If I go move my maps over form spigot -> Forge, what about pex and permissions? what about any plugins i currently have? are they compatible? do they need to reinstalled?

Thanks for any help you may offer!

tl;dr hold my beer im gonna do something possibly stupid

It's really simple to move your world from spigot to forge, assuming you didn't change the world name in server.properties

you should be able to just copy paste the folder titled 'world' into a forge server installation.

As for plugins, Unfortunately some of your plugins won't make it across as they are written on Spigot and not forge/Sponge.

If you want a server with plugins you will have to use Sponge or server-side mods.

More information on Sponge can be found here:

And Plugins for sponge can be found here:

Note: I personally recommend backing up any worlds before doing any transitions between versions, Nothing should go wrong but better safe that sorry.

Which replacements would you suggest for these plugins? It sounds like i'm SOL for current plugins, but it'll be easy to preserve the maps :)

:D

Since you use permissions Ex, I can point you in the direction of the sponge version:

https://forums.spongepowered.org/t/permissionsex-v2-0-api-5/6198

Uses the same commands but you may need to re-do perms

There is a forge version of Dynmap but I do not think it is 1.11 yet.

As a replacement for Essentials I recommend:

https://forums.spongepowered.org/t/0-26-0-nucleus-the-ultimate-essentials-plugin-mc-

For the clearlag plugins, There are a lot available so I'll let you choose for those

Not a clue what chatex does but I assume it's a chat manager so here you go:
