So I downloaded the latest and recommended versions of the forge installer, but when I tell my computer to run them, the installer window doesn't open. I have already run 1.11.2 vanilla. Please help

Have you made sure to download the correct installer/tried the Installer-Win?

Also try right-clicking the installer and choosing 'Run as Administrator'. If none of that works get back to me :)

Installer-Win:

PS C:\Users\Andrew\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft>

latest Java version and here is the result:

C:\Users\Andrew\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft> .\forge-1.11.2-13.20.0.2294-installer.jar
C:\Users\Andrew\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft>

That's not how you run a JAR file from the command line. Google it and post the results.

All of the available Java commands that I try to run from Command Line or PowerShell simply run into errors or fatal exceptions. It won't even check the version. If it starts with java this line shows up:

Error occurred during initialization of VM

java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object

Closest I managed to get was the command <java -xf forge-1.11.2-13.20.0.2294-installer.jar> and the output was:

Unrecognized option: -xf

Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.

Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

java -jar <jar-file-name>.jar

Try that. If that doesn't work, you messed your Java installation up.
