Forge 1.12.1 Mods Not Showing Up

When I would load up my 1.12.1 Forge it was fine but when I look in the mods on the Minecraft screen my mod wouldn't show up, it only showed Minecraft, Minecraft Coder Pack, Mercurius Updater, Minecraft Forge and Forge Mod Loader, I know that those automatically come with Forge but my other mod that I downloaded wasn't there. It was BetterFps mod. I had the right version of forge and the mod itself I did put it in my mods folder so I don't know. I am a little nooby at this mod stuff. But I do need some help. Thanks.
