Forge Installer Crashes when trying to change install location

Im trying to create a new server to host but when i try to use any of the installers, for any version of the game, (so the problem is definetly with my PC, not forge...) When it comes up and asks to chose wether i want to install the client or server, no matter which one i choose, if i try to click teh little elipsis to change the install location, the window just closes and creates a .log file in which i cant read. I've attached the file that it creates. Please help! and thanks

yeah i thought so too, but i reinstalled java to no change....

I have the same issue. I installed a new version of Java 8 recently. I will have to try an older version to see if the issue will go away...

I installed the latest version of Java 8 (64bit) and things work fine now. (Java 8 update 144).

My friend keeps getting disconnected from our Forge Server

It is, but that is mainly to set up configs per player, I think. I don't believe it is messing chest inventories. I can try to remove that one tho and see if it fixes anything.

After doing a bit of testing, it seems like every time that they were kicked out, they had taken something out of a chest, then it gives them this error “Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: java.util.zip.DataFormatException: invalid distance too far back”
