I recently started trying to use minecraft mods, and have been having no end of problems, so figured its time to ask for help.

 

Ive downloaded the most recent release of forge (universal), fresh download and update of minecraft too. managed to get it up and running, so i get the mods button, says i have 3, codecs, modloader and forge, and i can run a single player fine. However everytime i try and put a mod in the mod file, when loading up MC i get the mojang sign then black screen for eternity.

 

Now ive done extensive digging on youtube, done the forge instal with deleting meta-inf then moving forge over, deleting meta-inf after moving forge over, not deleting meta-inf at all, installing modloader then deleting meta-inf then installing forge, all these seem to still allow it to run with the button and list of 3 and so on, but still black screens as soon as a mod goes within a mile of it.

 

ive tried just putting the zip of the mod in the mod file, tried unzipping it into a file then putiing that in the mod file, even unzipped the whole thing into the mod file, no luck.

 

the mod im testing with (since its the one i want to try) is the new Fossil Archeology mod, 1.4.7 compat, followed vids on it, says can just drop the zip in, but no luck with anything. Not tried with a dif mod but if this wont work then no point really.

 

Is there something im missing/doing wrong? Doesnt help that theres 100s of youtube vids saying dif things.

Tried it with just using the mod zip in the mod files, and unzipping it into a file and putting that in mods, gives same log.

The site i got the mod off clearly stated it was for 1.4.7, id already tried about 3 dif places that said 1.4.7 and none of those worked either. Guess its back to hunting for a site that tells the truth ... anyone know where i can get the Fossil Archeology mod for MC 1.4.7 thats actually been proven to bloody work?
