I have wooden blocks I want to make fireproof (as in, they do not naturally get lit when near lava or other fire, and when lit would not be destroyed).

I overrode getFlammability to return 0 but that only made it so that they didn't get destroyed by the fire, and would spontaneously catch on fire every now and then when near lava.

How would I make a wood block not spontaneously catch on fire as well?

You also need to set the encouragement to 0.  Set both flammability and encouragement to 0 and you should be good.

It's been a while since I messed with fire last, but I think what you should be using to accomplish this is something like...

Blocks.FIRE.setFireInfo(yourBlock, 0, 0);

Think your block may need to be registered first, so maybe try that right after registering your block and see if it does the trick

Given, you can probably also accomplish this by keeping your overwritten getFlammability() method and also overriding getEncouragement() to return 0 as well
