Help with deleting 1.14 forge and getting 1.12

Hi, in the past hours I downloaded forge for 1.14 then realized most mods are only updated to 1.12 so then I downloaded 1.12 but whenever I try to go on and play, it still says 1.14 forge is running, and it doesn't even let me play that. Anyone know why? I have tried to delete any remnants of forge 1.14 but they keep coming back. I use Mac os btw
