BuildCraft makes MC Un-launchable

I wanted to play build craft so I installed the latest version of BC (which is for MC 1.12.1) I then installed Forge MC 1.12.1 in the launcher and put the BC folder into the Mods folder in my Minecraft. But upon trying to launch the game it crashes before even starting up, I dragged BC out of the mods folder and tried again and it worked fine, then I dragged BC back into the mods folder again and tried to launch which just ended in the same result as first time... Should I try to install another version of BC? (possibly find a version for 1.14)

game changed the way you create foods.
for example minecraft 1.21.8 code for the golden apple is
