So I've finally started using the 1.15.2 and am new to coding and I've gotten my mod all setup. I believe I have everything setup correctly but I've recently started modding so there's probably a few issues. I just need help figuring out why my OBJ model won't load correctly. The item appears in the correct creative tab, has the correct model name, but it is just a giant missing texture block. Could I have some advice or solutions? I see no errors besides this which doesn't seem to be related to the OBJ model.

Here's my model's json.

{
  "parent": "forge:item/default",
  "loader": "forge:obj",
  "model": "thereesemod:models/item/test_model.obj",
  "flip-v": true,
  "transform": {
    "firstperson_righthand": {
      "scale": 3.0
    }
  }
}

Hi

This example project has a working example of OBJ models that you might find helpful.  There are a few things you need to get exactly right before it works and often the errors are not clear.

see mbe21

Strategically placed breakpoints in OBJModel and OBJloader will help too.

So I checked out this example and I tried to apply in to my mod but couldn't get it, then I tried just using the example and the realized there were many errors with the example itself and just couldn't get it to work correctly...

just a item that does nothing. I figured out that I have the error

java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -1

which I believe means my models screwed up but in blender its position is absolutely 0 and size is all 1

Hi

What errors did you find with the example?  It works fine for me.

Did you try putting a suitable breakpoint into OBJModel and/or OBJloader to see whether the model is being loaded and parsed correctly?

Thanks so much for the help. I got it to work. My console wasn't showing the full log so I missed an error telling me my model was basically just really glitched. But thank you! :D
