Hello I'm just trying to follow the forge doc but I can't get my mod detected.

I'm workin on Forge 1.15.2, I have a mistake on the modid, he tells me he's not recognized but why ?

I've try to restart my IDE but is useless ! I think it's a silly mistake. I'm sorry, but I can't find it.

First of all, keep in mind that mod ids have to be entirely lowercase.

As for the error, it's value="modid" not modid="modid". You can also just type the mod id directly, so: @Mod("modid").

I'm eager to learn and am prone to mistakes. Don't hesitate to tell me how I can improve.

Your modid needs to be all lowercase, as imacatlol said.

Quick Tip:

A tactic that I use in order to make sure that my modid is consistent throughout my code is simply create it as a static string in my "main" class, and then just reference it throughout the rest of the mod as MainMod.MODID . This way, I don't accidentally misspell it later on, and have to dig through my logs and code to find out what is causing such a simple error.

@Mod(MainClass.MODID)
public class MainClass
{
    public static final String MODID = "modid";
}

Follow these rules when talking to me, and we'll get along fine.

1).I know Java fairly well. I don't know as much about modding. They are not the same, don't compare them.

2). I consider myself to always be learning. I make mistakes, you make mistakes. Who doesn't?

3). Insult me, and I will leave the thread. I have a real life, I don't have time to throw petty insults in a Minecraft Modding forum.

Please start with the MDK.

mcmod.info is not used anymore. You need a mods.toml, as shown in the MDK example.

Yes sorry, I just added it and configured it but it still doesn't seem to work

That is not the correct location for the mods.toml file. Again, please refer to the MDK example.

Oh ! I thought the META-INF was optional! I'm really sorry, thanks anyway because it works now . ?
