[1.15.2] Can someone please explain to me what the multiplier does in PlayerEntity.onLivingFall()?

I mean it obviously multiplies the damage, but is there anything I should be setting for this?

I want my player to take all their fall damage when pressing a button before hitting the ground, but don't know if there's a specific value I should put here or if I can just leave it at 1.
