Hi, I'm also having this issue, same version, whenever it starts to load the textures, it crashes and gives this error:

The game crashed whilst rendering overlay
Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Rendering overlay
Exit Code: -1

here is the Debug.log: debug.log

and the latest crash report of mine:crash-2020-09-04_15.30.47-client.txt

If you could fix this, I would be ecstatic, thank you.
