Game randomly freezes and crashes

I've been playing some modded minecraft recently and it didn't use to have this bug before but all the sudden I'm getting this bug where usually it'll freeze for a few seconds once, unfreeze and run normally for a second or two, freeze again and the game will crash and it does this consistently over and over and I can only play the game for a few minutes, though the game will still freeze randomly when it doesn't crash.
