[1.12.2] Breeding custom animal doesn't make child?

Hello, I made a custom mob but when I breed them together the "child" that spawns isnt smaller, its the exact same size as the fully grown animal. How do I fix this? it makes the baby/childs sounds (I used the default pig noises for now) and that worked, but it doesn't change in size, but other than that it works.
