Game crashes when removing mods?

When I remove any of my mods, the game crashes. Once I place them back in, it works again? I think it may have something to do with my save file. How do I fix this?

I was referred here from r/feedthebeastcrashes. 

 

(I haven't played in years so sorry if this is a stupid question)
