Posted July 6, 201312 yr Hello once again! Ive been into trying to add item subtext to blaze powder. now people have told me to extend the class which im pretty sure i did. . And if anyone knows how to help with this or help me adding the subtext that would be great. code. package Brenden; import java.util.List; import cpw.mods.fml.relauncher.Side; import cpw.mods.fml.relauncher.SideOnly; import net.minecraft.creativetab.CreativeTabs; import net.minecraft.entity.player.EntityPlayer; import net.minecraft.item.EnumRarity; import net.minecraft.item.Item; import net.minecraft.item.ItemFood; import net.minecraft.item.ItemStack; public class blazePowder extends Item { public blazePowder(int par1) { super(par1); this.setCreativeTab(CreativeTabs.tabBrewing); } @Override public void addInformation(ItemStack stack, EntityPlayer player, List list, boolean B) { if(stack.getItem() == Item.blazePowder) { list.add("Gives Strength For 10 Seconds"); } } } Thanks a million
July 6, 201312 yr Author You have to replace the blaze powder Item in the Item list (Item.itemsList). It's a dirty hack and you would be better off by doing this via a coremod, that's why they exist. like? Item.blazePowder = ((ItemFood) (new ItemFood(121, 2, 0.3F, true)).setPotionEffect(PotionHelper.blazePowderEffect).setUnlocalizedName("blazePowder")).setAlwaysEdible().setPotionEffect(Potion.damageBoost.id,10, 0, 1.0F).setCreativeTab(CreativeTabs.tabBrewing); Or the code above.
July 6, 201312 yr Author You don't need to replace Item.blazePowder (and you can't without reflection actually, since its final). All you need to do is replace the entry in the Items array (Item.itemsList) So I goto item.java and put Item.itemsList infront of the blaze powder
July 6, 201312 yr Never edit base classes diesieben07 was referring to doing this: Item.itemsList[item.blazePowder.itemID] = <yourItem>

July 7, 201312 yr Ok so I put that in my main mod class in my item list and it still didnt work. sorry im pretty stupid. That code allows your blazePowder to replace the original, so you should be able to eat it. You'll need to do similar code you make your other replacements work also. But I overlooked "add item subtext" Now I'm assuming your trying to add more info to the tooltip. In which case you current setup has problems. Your replacement is to ItemFood, which allows you to eat it, but you need to use your class and have it extend ItemFood/ItemFoodSeed before you do anything else. New Class : ItemEatWeirdly public class ItemEatWeirdly extends ItemFood { String[] subText; public ItemEatWeirdly(int id, int foodValue, float saturation, boolean wolfEat, String...subText) { super(id, foodValue, saturation, wolfEat); this.subText = subText; setCreativeTab(CreativeTabs.tabBrewing); setAlwaysEdible(); } public ItemEatWeirdly setEatEffect(int potionId, int potionDuration, int potionAmplifier, float potionProbability) { setPotionEffect(potionId, potionDuration, potionAmplifier, potionProbability); return this; } public ItemEatWeirdly setBrewEffect(String brewEffect) { setPotionEffect(brewEffect); return this; } public ItemEatWeirdly setNameAndIcon(String name, String icon) { setUnlocalizedName(name); func_111206_d(icon); return this; } @Override public void addInformation(ItemStack itemStack, EntityPlayer entityPlayer, List list, boolean par4) { if (this.subText != null && this.subText.length > 0) { for (String text : this.subText){ list.add(text); } } } } New Class : ItemEatWeirdlySeed public class ItemEatWeirdlySeed extends ItemSeedFood { String[] subText; public ItemEatWeirdlySeed(int id, int foodValue, float saturation, int cropId, int soilId, String...subText) { super(id, foodValue, saturation, cropId, soilId); this.subText = subText; setCreativeTab(CreativeTabs.tabBrewing); setAlwaysEdible(); } public ItemEatWeirdlySeed setEatEffect(int potionId, int potionDuration, int potionAmplifier, float potionProbability) { setPotionEffect(potionId, potionDuration, potionAmplifier, potionProbability); return this; } public ItemEatWeirdlySeed setBrewEffect(String brewEffect) { setPotionEffect(brewEffect); return this; } public ItemEatWeirdlySeed setNameAndIcon(String name, String icon) { setUnlocalizedName(name); func_111206_d(icon); return this; } @Override public void addInformation(ItemStack itemStack, EntityPlayer entityPlayer, List list, boolean par4) { if (this.subText != null && this.subText.length > 0) { for (String text : this.subText){ list.add(text); } } } } In you main class, @EventHandler // this is for 1.6 if your on 1.5 use @PreInit public void preInit(FMLPreInitializationEvent event) { int replaceId; replaceId = Item.blazePowder.itemID; Item.itemsList[replaceId] = new ItemEatWeirdly(replaceId - 256, 2, 0.3F, true, "SubText", "another line").setNameAndIcon("blazePowder", "blaze_powder").setBrewEffect(PotionHelper.blazePowderEffect).setEatEffect(Potion.damageBoost.id,10, 0, 1.0F); replaceId = Item.netherStalkSeeds.itemID; Item.itemsList[replaceId] = new ItemEatWeirdlySeed(replaceId - 256, 2, 0.3F, Block.netherStalk.blockID, Block.slowSand.blockID, "SubText", "another line", "you can keep adding strings here").setNameAndIcon("netherStalkSeeds", "nether_wart").setBrewEffect("+4").setCreativeTab(CreativeTabs.tabMaterials); } the string used for the icon is found in .func_111206_d(" something here ");

July 7, 201312 yr You forgot the @ line before preInit @EventHandler // this is for 1.6 if your on 1.5 use @PreInit public void preInit(FMLPreInitializationEvent event) Also don't need the private void func_111206_d(String icon) {} in the new classes. What I meant was you can get the texture name by looking at Items.class at the end of each line when the items are registered you'll see .func_111206_d(" something here "); The " something here " is the string you need
July 7, 201312 yr Author Ok thanks so much!!! This was a very kind gesture what do you want your name to be in my mod mc.info thing?? I just have a error in main mod class -The type of the expression must be an array type but it resolved to Item
July 7, 201312 yr Author You don't need to but if you do anyway, ShetiPhian is what most know me as. Ok one more question the ill leave you alone. lol I have a error on Item.itemsList[replaceId] how do I fix it? error- The type of the expression must be an array type but it resolved to Item

July 7, 201312 yr I'm not getting the error you had, I did make a few adjustments though. - Undid your changes to ItemEatWeirdly & ItemEatWeirdlySeed - changed your package from Brenden to brenden.eatweirdly (it should be all lowercase and include your modname, you mods would use brenden.modname) - removed the space from your modId - added an instance variable - removed the unfinished items I'll pastebin the classes to shorten this post: Potionitems: http://pastebin.com/30KekFJw ItemEatWeirdly: http://pastebin.com/ugV9J0xF ItemEatWeirdlySeed: http://pastebin.com/maeu0qKs Either copy the "RAW Paste Data" or download and rename them Now for adding new items: I grabbed this from the Item.class since it is an item you wanted to use I'll use it as an example public static Item ghastTear = (new Item(114)).setUnlocalizedName("ghastTear").setPotionEffect(PotionHelper.ghastTearEffect).setCreativeTab(CreativeTabs.tabBrewing).func_111206_d("ghast_tear"); we'll start with the id replaceId = Item.ghastTear.itemID; now because we are replacing the original you need to overwrite it in the item list with your item so your line will start with: Item.itemsList[replaceId] = in this case the item is not a seed so you create a new ItemEatWeirdly you'll need to give it the replaceId-256 (subtract 256 because it gets added automaticly and your id would be different if you didn't) the value of the food (how much hunger it refills), in this case 1 because thats what you picked the food saturation (how long before you become hungry again), in this case 0.3F will a wolf will eat the food, in this case true the text you want to appear in the tooltip (each quote is a new line), "line1", "line2" will give two lines lest put that together new ItemEatWeirdly(replaceId - 256, 1, 0.3F, true, "line1", "line2") you could stop there, but there would be no texture or name, no effect when eaten and cant be used in potion brewing. the name string is from .setUnlocalizedName("ghastTear") and the texture string is from .func_111206_d("ghast_tear") so your setNameAndIcon would look like .setNameAndIcon("ghastTear", "ghast_tear") setBrewEffect is a renamed setPotionEffect(String) so just copy the infromation over .setBrewEffect(PotionHelper.ghastTearEffect) setEatEffect is the effect eating the item has on the player, in this case you picked regeneration .setEatEffect(Potion.regeneration.id, 6, 0, 1.0F); lets put all of that togeter replaceId = Item.ghastTear.itemID; Item.itemsList[replaceId] = new ItemEatWeirdly(replaceId - 256, 1, 0.3F, true, "line1", "line2").setNameAndIcon("ghastTear", "ghast_tear").setBrewEffect(PotionHelper.ghastTearEffect).setEatEffect(Potion.regeneration.id, 6, 0, 1.0F); By default the items appear on the brewing tab, to change this just add .setCreativeTab() with the tab you want inside. setBrewEffect and setEatEffect can be left off if you dont need them.

I feel bad saying this but im still getting that error. But thanks for explaining how to put the items together! I copied and pasted all of the RAW paste data into each class and I still got that error. Should I delete the two classes and try again? And THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
