They're currently in the process of implementing it? I hope they make it possible to run Java 9 on every forge version. Especially 1.7.10, it would be nice to reap the performance benefits on a version that already runs like butter.

It appears every version of Forge from 1.7.10 to the latest 1.12.2 is incompatible with Java 9, or at least one of the libraries is. Here's the error it creates: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassCastException: java.base/jdk.internal.loader.ClassLoaders$AppClassLoader cannot be cast to java.base/java.net.URLClassLoader at net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch.<init>(Launch.java:34) at net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch.main(Launch.java:28)
