Oh my god, I don't know how but it's working again, some weight has been lifted off my shoulders, thank goodness

I've been having the hardest day with video games and it's really starting to get to me. I decided that I should probably update my forge and play Minecraft since I haven't in a little while, so I downloaded 1.12.2, the installer one on recommended, opened it, launched it with client, it loaded and said it installed into my launcher. Great ok, I went to go check and it didn't. I deleted some other ones I had on my launcher, tried many times all day, and it's really starting to frustrate me. I tried it with a few other forge versions to see if it was just 1.12.2, but it's not working for anything. I also tried the thing that explains what to do when it says you have to open it manually or something like that, where you open a world in that version to 'download it' or something, still doesn't work. Please don't tell me to just look it up myself, cause if I did and could find it, I wouldn't be as mad as I am now, and here hoping someone will know what's going on. I've looked, and it seems like NO ONE else is having this problem. So please someone help
