Creating a new minecraft folder to place forge version 1.12.2 in. Would i create that folder in the actually %APPDATA% .minecraft or just a new folder anywhere in general?

I checked the .minecraft and typed both in. Nothing to show. I go to crash logs type i in, Nothing to show. I go to logs, Nothing to Show. does not give me a crash report.

i recently downloaded forge 1.12.2, i ran the game before downloading and set up the launcher settings, the game crashes, no mods in. I then download 1.8.9 forge version to see if that will work and it does the same thing. i ran the 1.8.9 and did launcher settings and still crashed. This tells me it is a problem on my side. i still have forge version 1.7.10 in my .minecraft (%appdata) which by the way does not crash. i'am guessing that i have to change some things around in my .minecraft (%appdata%) folder, i just don't what i have to change or do. Can someone please help me?
