  1. Using this method made the obsolete warning go away and seems to be the correct way of doing it, but how do I check to see if it actually ends up getting registered?
  2. I'm trying to register the TileEnity for my custom block called "data_block", but Forge says that the method I'm using is obsolete, and also I don't even know if I'm doing it right. GameRegistry.registerTileEntity(DataTileEntity.class, Reference.MOD_ID + ".data_block"); //This is in preInit of Main. I say that I don't know if I'm doing it right because I've also seen different people us all of the following when entering the path string for TileEntites. Reference.MOD_ID + "data_block" Reference.MOD_ID + ".data_block" Reference.MOD_ID + "_data_block" Reference.MOD_ID + ":data_block"
  3. Ah, I see. I don't know anything about extensions, but the data for png and gif must be stored in different formats.
  4. Changing the extension usually works. For example, changing the extension of a text file from txt to rtf changes it to a rich text document automatically for me, and asks me if I'm sure I want to change the extension before it does so. Something similar happened when I tried to change the extension of my texture from gif to png, as it asked me if I was sure and changed the extension in the name to .png, but unknownst to me, it was still a gif image in the background. It wasn't like I was just changing the file's name from somegifimage to somepngimage, I was under the impression that Windows was going to auto convert to for me, given that it warned me and I've converted files in that same manner previously.
  5. Problem solved, the texture that I was using originally had the gif extension, but I erased that and put .png at the end of it, but apparently, that didn't actually convert it to png, even though a pop-up window asked me if I was sure that I wanted to change the extension.
  6. The textures are located in the source folder, why would it be looking in the bin? It works fine when I put textures for items in the source folder, just not block textures. Here's the location of where I put the block textures: C:\Users\David\Desktop\Minecraft Modding\Dave's Mod\src\main\resources\assets\davesmod\textures\blocks EDIT: Oh, when I put textures in the folder that I just referenced, it also copied them to: C:\Users\David\Desktop\Minecraft Modding\Dave's Mod\bin\assets\davesmod\textures\blocks I didn't realize that it did that, but now it makes even less sense, as the textures should indeed be where it is looking.
  7. Yeah, did you see the link for the screenshot I posted?
  8. Hello. So it seems that Forge has decided that it can't the texture for my custom block. My best guess is that it's searching in the wrong place, but the code I'm using I got from this video, and it worked fine for him.
