Draco18s, you are of no direct help, but your pointer to the forge github was helpful. Looking at the hierarchy helped me realize that the documentation is incorrect. Forge's documentation doesn't point to the correct location to put the .png file. It goes in the src/main/resources folder, not the root folder. If this doesn't work for you, I apologize, but it worked for me.
