Would I need to do this if the file is just sitting in my recents? I don't really know how I would type a path to my recents. Or how I would type a path to my downloads folder

"forge-1.15.2-31.2.0-installer.jar" is actually the name of the file. and would you mind telling me what the cd command is so I can test it that way? I've never used the terminal before and so I don't exactly know what you mean by being in the same directory.

Danebi, I do not own a windows computer... I do not know manually install the file through a macbooks command terminal.

I'm sorry but I do not know how to do that. I am googling how but I've never used the command line on my computer before and have no idea how to run a file that way.

My installer is not producing a log file after the failed install. My installer is just in my downloads in this folder, and it doesn't produce anything, even after I've tried to run it multiple times.

Attached are all of the log files I can find on my computer. I have been installing with the Minecraft application closed. I'm very sorry but I seem to misunderstand your second question. What do you mean by what launcher am I using? I've simply been using the regular minecraft launcher. And as for Java simple installer, I don't know how to explain what it does, but I managed to get a picture but I can't seem to upload it. When I attempt to download forge, the screen comes up to select client, server, or extract. I choose client. When it downloads, all I see is a window that is called "Installing 1.15.2 forge" and in the window it says "Considering json" and then it closes and I do not know if forge was successfully installed

I installed forge by going to http://files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/index_1.15.2.html this website. I then just open the downloaded file using the Java Simple installer (the one that just comes on macbooks), and then it's supposed to download. I'm very confused because this error only started about 2 months ago, and I haven't (to my knowledge), changed anything on my computer since then that would cause errors with forge.

Whenever I try to open minecraft forge profiles I receive this error: Failed to download file.
